What percentage of New York City population is white?

What is the percentage of whites in New York City? Or, what is the population of whites in NYC? If possible, please mention the neighbourhoods with considerable white populations. A friend of mine wants to know this. Thank You.

5. I agree with Attitude Adjuster. If your friend has to ask this kind of question, then she should probably reconsider moving to NYC. Maybe try a less diverse city like Boston? To answer your question, the whitest neighborhoods tend to be in Manhattan (i.e. the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Chelsea, etc...), but she has to be willing to shell out A LOT of money to live in those areas. Queens & Brooklyn, even The Bronx (in areas such as Throggs Neck & Morris Park) has areas with considerable white populations. Long Island, which is the suburb just outside of NYC, has tons of predominantly white neighborhoods for your friend to choose from. It all depends what kind of white people you want. If you're looking for neighborhoods with "pure blooded" American whites, they'll be hard to find. Most NYC whites are of Italian, Irish, Eastern Europeans, and Jewish heritage.
